SLIDESHOW - some of the projects completed to date.
- Provision of toilets blocks to 3 schools, with guttering, large tanks and plumbing for harvesting water for drinking, hand washing and cooking.
- Treatment and education for management of jiggers for children in 3 schools.
- Provision of shoes and socks to protect feet from jiggers.
- Provision of washable menstrual pads and cotton underwear for girls.
- Sewing machines and trained dressmaker so that girls can learn a skill and make their own washable pads and garments.
- Office equipment to help with basic organisation and communication for the school.
- 550 banana rhizomes and 500 sweet potato vines for the school and local village for educational and food security purposes.
- Equipped a room as library to house the thousands of story books we have collected and mailed for children whose education is in a foreign language [English] and who have never before seen a story book! Sadly we have had to discontinue this project in spite of its importance, due to escalating postal charges and import duties imposed by the Kenyan government.
- Emergency supplies of food, hand sanitising, masks etc to assist through COVID regulations.
- Development of 1 acre (0.4 hectare) of school land as a sustainable food garden with root crops, grains, fruit and vegetables. All with the enthusiastic involvement of school staff, students and the local community. At the same time we provided connection to a local water supply company bore for emergency supplies.
